Department Of Oncology
GVN CBCC Cancer Centre is a collaboration between Dr G.Viswanathan Speciality Hospitals, Trichy – Tamil Nadu and CBCC India. The Cancer Care Centre at the hospital took place in the year 2014. GVN CBCC Cancer Centre is a comprehensive cancer hospital in this region having 40 beds and intensive care units laced with modern equipment backed by a highly skilled team of doctors, Nursing & Para Medical staff

Medical Oncology

MEDICAL ONCOLOGY is a discipline that deals with the systemic therapy of cancer including chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, targeted therapies, supportive care, and bone marrow transplantation.
Our Medical Oncologists at CBCC Cancer Care Centres are highly experienced and some of them are senior-most doctors in India who are determined to provide efficient treatment to Cancer Patients. The Medical Oncology unit at CBCC Cancer Care Centres has a well-equipped Day Care Center for Chemotherapies with extremely efficient & dedicated Nursing Staff
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is a method of cancer treatment in which anticancer drugs are given intravenously, by injections, or by mouth. Chemotherapy is often used in conjunction with radiation therapy and surgery, as multimodality therapy. Anticancer drugs are special drugs that can only be prescribed by a person who has been trained in this speciality. These may cause certain serious side effects, which may become life-threatening if not detected in time and treated promptly. In the last two to three decades chemotherapy has made a great impact on the overall survival of many cancers patients.

Radiation Oncology

Radiation Therapy is one of the most effective modalities for the majority of cancers. It is estimated that Radiation Therapy is directly responsible for at least 40% of all cancer patients surviving beyond five years. Technical, academic and clinical advances in radiation Therapy have improved patient management and outcomes vary significantly. The development of more sophisticated approaches to radiation therapy treatment has been made possible by improvements in radiological imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance (MR), computer tomography (CT), computerized 3-dimensional, ”inverse” treatment planning, patient positioning, and more sophisticated linear accelerators.
The CBCC Cancer Centers are equipped with the following, which adds to the accuracy & precision and helps in optimizing the effectiveness of radiation therapy.

V-MAT
BRACHYTHERAPY
IGRT (Image Guided Radiation Therapy)
IMRT (INTENSITY MODULATED RADIOTHERAPY)
V-MAT

V-MAT
V-MAT radiation Therapy technology is a new approach to image-guided, intensity-modulated radiation Therapy therapy (IGRT/IMRT) that delivers precise treatments in shorter times than conventional IMRT. V-MAT delivers a highly precise treatment much faster than other technologies.BRACHYTHERAPY

BRACHYTHERAPY
Brachytherapy is a form of radiotherapy where a radiation source is placed inside or next to the area requiring treatment. Brachytherapy is commonly used as an effective treatment for cervical, prostate, breast, and skin cancers, and can also be used to treat tumours in many other body sites. Brachytherapy can be used alone or in combination with other therapies, such as surgery, external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) and chemotherapy.IGRT (Image Guided Radiation Therapy)

IGRT (Image Guided Radiation Therapy)
Image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) is the use of imaging during radiation therapy to improve the precision and accuracy of treatment delivery. IGRT is used to treat tumours in areas of the body that move, such as the lungs. Radiation therapy machines are equipped with imaging technology to allow your doctor to image the tumour before and during treatment.IMRT (INTENSITY MODULATED RADIOTHERAPY)

IMRT (INTENSITY MODULATED RADIOTHERAPY)
IMRT is an advanced type of high-precision radiation that improves the ability to conform the treatment volume to concave tumour shapes.

Surgical Oncology

The Surgical Oncology Department at GVN- CBCC centre provides diagnostic and consultative service for individuals with problems related to Solid Tumors. Complex tumour removals are skillfully performed by highly trained and motivated surgical oncologists. In the department of surgical oncology, we aim to provide high quality and comprehensive care to patients with solid organ malignancies. Providing comprehensive care involves taking care of all aspects of cancer treatment including screening & prevention, early diagnosis, staging, local and systemic treatment, reconstruction, follow-up and rehabilitation and palliative care.
We advocate organ-specific and multidisciplinary care in surgical oncology and offer specialised services for the management of breast cancer, head-neck cancers, gastrointestinal and colorectal cancers, urogenital cancers and gynaecological cancers.
All our surgical oncologists work as a part of the multidisciplinary team, working closely with other specialists like radiologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, cancer care nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, and physiotherapists to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.
